Who is insuring me?

You would be surprised how few Insurers there really are in the UK. It is not many, really.

To watch the TV, though, you’d be forgiven for thinking there were hundreds. The thing is, many of them are just brands owned by the same company. Royal Bank of Scotland own a few brands. Direct Line and Tesco, for example, and they cover around 35% of all drivers in Britain. You’d be forgiven for not noticing though.

Between them, HBOS and Aviva they own many brands and offer cover under many different names.

The others are the same, though. Diamond, Bell, Elephant and Admiral are all insured by the same insurer. Sheilas Wheels and Esure are, too.

Does that mean those brands will be the same price? Well, amazingly to us, the answer is no, so you do still have to get a quote to see the price of a brand because just because it is owned by the same insurance company does not mean you may not get what you want cheaper.
