Car insurance customers could go greener by following a number of tips.
According to a report from the Commission for Integrated Transport, a government advisory body, drivers could save their carbon footprint by simple checking type pressures and not being so heavy footed.
The report suggests that motorists who accelerate gently and keep to speed limits lower how much carbon they produce, while those using air conditioning and keeping the engine idling use more.
This makes perfect sense to all of us, though a little consideration next time you’re driving could save you some money and the environment.
Commenting on the document, chairman of the Retail Motor Industry Federation Alec Murray stated that while the motoring industry was working hard to reduce emissions, good driving could help bring about further benefits.
"It makes sense that the reduction of vehicle CO2 emissions goes hand-in-hand with encouraging motorists to drive their cars in a way that helps the environment," he stated.
